The history of the Berghotel Zorzi begins with Maria Ventura, who bought a plot of land on the Alpe di Siusi in 1950. Between 1952 and 1954, with great passion and dedication, she built the Pension Zorzi, which soon bore her family name. Her daughters Augusta, affectionately called "Gusti", and Traudl supported her from the beginning. In the 1960s they expanded the business by building an extension to create more space. Maria ran the kitchen and the restaurant was always busy in the summer. It was in this cosy atmosphere that Augusta met her husband “Chicco”, a bricklayer who was working in another hotel at the time. Two years after they married, their sons Marco and Alessandro were born. After his military service and his time with the Carabinieri, Marco decided to pursue a career in the hotel business. Together with his wife Romana, a trained hairdresser, he worked tirelessly to renovate the hotel, working as a cook by day and a bus driver by night. Marco took over the guesthouse in 2009 and completely renovated it in 2010. Today, his children Tamara and Matteo are also actively involved in the hotel business, carrying on the family tradition with fresh ideas and the same warmth that has characterised Berghotel Zorzi since its foundation.
